Burdened

Jesus said to the crowds:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Mt 11:28-30

Some days it does not feel like the burden of the day is light. Some days, it feels as if the world is a giant boa constructor and the grip is tight around my neck. That constrictive feeling can get you down every now and again. It can be downright awful to feel this way.  This was me yesterday.

Then I read this passage. I had to remind myself that if I was using the spiritual tools given to me. I have to remember to pray my way through the day. Yes, I know that sounds strange, but you know I have to remember to keep asking for help all day. That is a hard thing for me to do. I am not one of those people who likes to ask for help, be it from anyone on this Earth, or God himself. I am just not built that way for some reason. I have to try to remember that it is o.k. to ask. Also, the burden of the day is usually one that I have put upon myself. There really is no reason to stress over anything.

He says his burden will be light. When you get yourself out of the situations, and when you put yourself in the hands of God, you find that your troubles are easy. You will be able to gain clarity and able to get a handle on everything that is going on. The key, remembering to stop, pray and give thanks.  For me, it is hard to remember, especially in the moment, but it is something that has to be done.
