Difficult Tasks

Moses said to the people:
“If only you would heed the voice of the LORD, your God,
and keep his commandments and statutes
that are written in this book of the law,
when you return to the LORD, your God,
with all your heart and all your soul.

“For this command that I enjoin on you today
is not too mysterious and remote for you.
It is not up in the sky, that you should say,
‘Who will go up in the sky to get it for us
and tell us of it, that we may carry it out?’
Nor is it across the sea, that you should say,
‘Who will cross the sea to get it for us
and tell us of it, that we may carry it out?’
No, it is something very near to you,
already in your mouths and in your hearts;
you have only to carry it out.” Dt 30:10-14

I took a few days off from writing. I honestly could not find the words to express exactly how I was feeling about everything and anything. Since the last time I wrote something, the United States have practically been on fire. Tensions among everyone have run very high, and it seems that we are more polarized than ever before. That may be true. With the news coming at us immediately now, we are feeling the stress of situations in almost real time, which is causing anxiety levels to fly off the chart. Follow Me.

As Jesus passed by,
he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post.
He said to him, “Follow me.”
And he got up and followed him.
While he was at table in his house,
many tax collectors and sinners came
and sat with Jesus and his disciples.
The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples,
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
He heard this and said,
“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words,
I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” Mt 9:9-13

How You Get That Lonely?

Jesus looked at them and said, “For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”  Mt 19:26

Predicting God

When Jesus had come into the temple area,
the chief priests and the elders of the people approached him
as he was teaching and said,
“By what authority are you doing these things?
And who gave you this authority?”
Jesus said to them in reply,
“I shall ask you one question, and if you answer it for me,
then I shall tell you by what authority I do these things.
Where was John’s baptism from?
Was it of heavenly or of human origin?”
They discussed this among themselves and said,
“If we say ‘Of heavenly origin,’ he will say to us,
‘Then why did you not believe him?’
But if we say, ‘Of human origin,’ we fear the crowd,
for they all regard John as a prophet.”
So they said to Jesus in reply, “We do not know.”
He himself said to them,
“Neither shall I tell you by what authority I do these things.” MT 21:23-27 Continue reading “Predicting God”

Down and Out

I am sitting here this morning, inside my tiny grey cube, and pondering all the things that I have seen this week. It is almost overwhelming to think about every single thing. All the joy, happiness, sadness, fear, hatred, and everything in between, it is almost causing me to go into a panic. Continue reading “Down and Out”
