Difficult Tasks

Moses said to the people:
“If only you would heed the voice of the LORD, your God,
and keep his commandments and statutes
that are written in this book of the law,
when you return to the LORD, your God,
with all your heart and all your soul.

“For this command that I enjoin on you today
is not too mysterious and remote for you.
It is not up in the sky, that you should say,
‘Who will go up in the sky to get it for us
and tell us of it, that we may carry it out?’
Nor is it across the sea, that you should say,
‘Who will cross the sea to get it for us
and tell us of it, that we may carry it out?’
No, it is something very near to you,
already in your mouths and in your hearts;
you have only to carry it out.” Dt 30:10-14

I took a few days off from writing. I honestly could not find the words to express exactly how I was feeling about everything and anything. Since the last time I wrote something, the United States have practically been on fire. Tensions among everyone have run very high, and it seems that we are more polarized than ever before. to whom we must render an account. Heb. 4:12-13

Let me tell you, I have listened to people speak before, give speeches, but in my 35 years, this one was one of the best. I don’t know if it is because I am biased being a proud Catholic, or if in fact I just actually paid more attention to the historical nature of what was going on, but I was mesmerized by the whole thing. I was struck by one simple sentence, and I know I am going to get the quote slightly off, but he said, “It is difficult to judge the past on the criteria of the present.” He was referencing the Native Americans and other persecuted people that have been in our country, but I took the meaning to a new place. Happy?

I am not sure how to start this one off. I will be honest, sometimes the thought of happy is not one that resonates with me at all. I am not sure how to explain that. When someone says “Find your happy place.”, what exactly are they talking about? Continue reading “Happy?”
